I was born on 28 February 1977 in Kranj. I attended elementary and musical schools (clarinet and piano) in Žiri. Having finished elementary school I enrolled at the grammar school in Škofja Loka and at the same time I attended Secondary Musical School (course of study: music theory) in Ljubljana. After graduation I enrolled at the Faculty of Theology in 1995 and a year later I started the study of composition at the Academy of Music. I studied with Professor Marijan Gabrijelčič (1940-1998) for two years. I continued the study of composition with Professor Pavel Mihelčič. In 2000, I graduated from the Academy of Music and from the Faculty of Theology in 2001. In 2006 I started master’s degree programme in theology and have completed it successfully in 2008. Since 2001 I have been working as a music teacher at the Anton Aškerc (Šolski center Ljubljana) and Jurij Vega Grammar Schools in Ljubljana and Idrija respectively. I also teach solfeggio and harmony at the Music school in Celje.
My works have been performed almost throughout Slovenia, some have even been performed abroad (Trieste, Innsbruck, Bucharest, Berlin, New York, Luzern, Atlanta, Venice, Linz …). The compositions have been performed within the framework of several festivals (Ljubljanski festival, Glasbeno poletje v Mariboru, Svetovni glasbeni dnevi, Noč slovenskih skladateljev, festival Musica Danubiana, Naša pesem, International New Music Week Bucharest, festival Unicum …). I am pleased that most of my works have been performed by notable ensembles (MD7 Ensemble, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, trio Clavimerata, Academic Choir Vinko Vodopivec, Koehne quartet …) and excellent soloists (Matej Zupan, Luka Einfalt, Thomas Rüedi, Luisa Sello, Matej Grahek, Milko Lazar, Anja Bukovec and others). I write music for classical ensembles, incidental music, film score (Tabula rasa), music for computer games (Noah, Large Fruit Collider), web sites and festivals; I have made numerous musical bases for various performers. You can find some examples of my creativity in the folders Serious music and Other musical forms.
